Welcome

The Faculty Evaluation and Development Task Force emerged from conversations among the Faculty Senate, the Council of Chairs, and the provost over the last two years. Our main goal is to create a better alignment between our institutional structures and what faculty members actually do, given the many changes undergone by faculty work and changing university priorities in recent years.

We want to make the process of evaluating faculty work more meaningful as well as more efficient, and we want to find the best means of supporting faculty in their careers and lives. Our goal is not to change the way faculty work, but rather to make Appalachian a better place to work.

Update for December 2008: The final reports of the subcommittees of the Faculty Development Task Force can be accessed by clicking on the link on the left side of this page. These thoughtful, forward-looking reports represent months of work by hundreds of faculty, both the members of the Task Force and all those who contributed information and advice during the process. The reports have been and will continue to be influential in shaping discussions and policies on faculty affairs at Appalachian.
